Tea bags, wax resist, dye and embroidery on tea bags

This repeat was crafted by applying the main pattern with wax crayon, on tea bags before dyeing, adding the small dyed shapes using appliqué and embellishing the whole with embroidery.

Leaves, embroidery, dye, ink and tea bags on fabric

​

Leaves dried naturally over years, sewn onto a large piece of fabric with tea bags and dye added to suggest the forest floor. Ageing gave the leaves a leathery texture and appearance - patterns on some leaves have been enhanced with ink.

This piece was created using a draft on the canvas which was turned over and finalized on the reverse. The result is a delightful effect, with elements of the reverse seen in the background.
